Vascular Surgery

The Department of Vascular Surgery at Bharathi Hospital is a specialized center for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the body’s arteries, veins, and lymphatic system. Our skilled vascular surgeons provide advanced care for a wide range of conditions, utilizing both traditional open surgery and cutting-edge, minimally invasive endovascular procedures to restore healthy blood flow and prevent complications.

We work in close collaboration with other departments like Cardiology, Neurology, and Diabetes care to provide a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Our Specialized Vascular Services Include:

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD): We treat blockages in the arteries of the legs and arms that can lead to pain, numbness, and in severe cases, gangrene. Our treatments include:

Bypass Surgery: Creating a new path for blood flow around a blocked artery using a graft.

Angioplasty and Stenting: A minimally invasive procedure to open narrowed arteries with a balloon and place a stent to keep the artery open.

Atherectomy: Using a specialized catheter to remove plaque from inside the artery.

Aortic Aneurysm Repair: We offer expert management for the ballooning of the aorta, the body’s largest artery, to prevent rupture. Our procedures include:

Open Aneurysm Repair: Traditional surgery to replace the weakened section of the aorta with a synthetic graft.

Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR/TEVAR): A minimally invasive procedure where a stent graft is placed inside the artery to reinforce the weakened wall.

Carotid Artery Disease: To prevent strokes, we treat blockages in the carotid arteries of the neck.

Carotid Endarterectomy: Surgical removal of plaque from the artery.

Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting: Minimally invasive treatment to open the artery and place a stent.

Venous Disease: We provide advanced treatment for venous conditions affecting the legs.

Varicose Veins & Spider Veins: Comprehensive care using minimally invasive techniques like Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), Laser Ablation, and Sclerotherapy to seal off damaged veins.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Management of blood clots in the deep veins, including thrombolytic therapy and IVC filter placement.

Dialysis Access: We create and maintain surgical access for patients requiring hemodialysis, including AV (Arteriovenous) fistula creation and graft placement.

Our goal is to provide timely, effective treatment to improve circulation, alleviate symptoms, and enhance the quality of life for our patients.
